Elder Scrolls Online: My Inventory is Full, AGAIN!!?? (PC/NA)

The pain of limited inventory space can feel very real in a game where you can loot everything.  The pain intensifies when almost every enemy drops loot and a complex crafting system exists.  Even a player on PC/NA with max inventory space, max bank space, mule characters, and ESO+ still runs out of space frequently.  This is a chronic collector's guide to managing your inventory with limited resources.

Cooks-With-Heart the Argonian Templar and Rihana Kick-Paw the Khajiit Nightblade

What happens if you're a player without ESO+ and you're brand new?  You suffer like only Mannimarco in the coldfire clutches of Molag Bal can.  I've got some tips to relieve some of the pain, vestige.

Visit the Stablemaster.  Once you have a mount (level 10) every day (20hr cooldown) you can visit the stablemaster for a pack upgrade at 250g pieces.  You will receive one character inventory slot if you purchase Riding Skill Capacity.  You may purchase a maximum of 60 slots this way.  Riding Skill capacity books can be purchased in the crown store too, and give 10 slots per book but will not go over the maximum of 60 additional slots per character.

Visit the Pack Merchant.  The pack merchant sells upgrades at 10 inventory slots per upgrade, with a maximum of 8 upgrades.  The cost scales at roughly double the cost each purchase after the second purchase.  The first upgrade is only 400g.

Visit the Banker.  The banker will offer to increase your bank inventory only.  These upgrades are 10 slots at a time and up to 18 are available with gold.  You can use crowns to buy up to 8 of these upgrades but they do not stack, so you cannot buy 18 upgrades with gold and then 8 more with crowns.

Sell Everything.  Download Master Merchant and Tamriel Trade Center so you can see the relative value of items.  See my article on Minion Add-On manager for help with add-ons and selling items.  Vendor everything not worth much.  Post anything with 1k gold+ on a trader.  Make a habit of emptying your inventory before you log out.

Create a mule character.  If you find items you really want to keep, start keeping them on a character you create to act as a bank.  Anything not *character bound* can be Deposited to your bank and then Withdrawn by your character.  That's 60 free slots on each Mule character.

Get an apartment. If you get an apartment (they're free) you can start putting any furnishings you want to keep in it for storage.  Think of it as a storage unit for furnishings.  Another handy item to get is a storage coffer.  They can hold 30-60 items and are purchasable with crowns in the Crown Store, with Tel Var Stones in Imperial City, and with writ vouchers in Deshaan.  Storage Coffers will take a bit more effort to farm but are a great addition to a storage apartment.

Example Delve run.  With a brand new character and no ESO+, I headed into Zainsipilu in Vvardenfell.  I took the quest and completed the delve.  I looted everything.  I started with 19/60 inventory slots after the initial 'login and loot the room' I usually do.  It took me about 30 minutes to clear the delve and I came out with 60/60 full inventory after the quest turn in.  After looting everything, the most valuable items I found were Decorative Wax (4), Mudcrab Chitin (4), and Insect Parts, River Bait (61).  Selling these on the trader will net 6820 gold for the run.  Armor, weapons, and jewelry was banked and will be broken down on my main crafting character for experience.  Everything else was sold to a vendor in Vivec to clear inventory space.

Pay to Play.  In the Crown Store under Upgrades > Inventory there are four options you can pay for to get more inventory space.  Each bag space upgrade (10 slots) is 1k crowns and bank space upgrade (10 slots) is 1k crown and they do NOT stack with buying upgrades with gold.  Either pet can add 5 slots and stacks with other upgrades, but you only get the upgrade with the pet equipped.  Crowns are purchased with real money.  There is a method for purchasing crowns with gold, which I will talk about in a future post.
